Your donation today will ensure that children and youth in Toronto have the support of a caring and consistent adult

For over 107 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto has been igniting potential by matching Toronto’s vulnerable children and youth with a Big Brother or Big Sister. This caring adult becomes a support, friend and mentor to a child facing adversity. By every measure, children in our mentoring programs see positive results in mental health, employment and civic engagement.

Big Brother Big Sister of Toronto’s COVID-19 Response

“The single most powerful antidote to the impacts of trauma and adversity is safe, stable and nurturing relationships. Right now, even though we have to be socially distant, it’s actually more important than ever for us to stay emotionally connected.”

– Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, 1st Surgeon General of California

Staying Socially Connected in a time of Physical Distancing

BBBST is responding with timely virtual interventions across all our mentoring programs. We are uniquely positioned to ensure mentors and BBBST caseworkers continue to connect with young people who need us – especially right now. We are one of the few youth-serving organizations that can continue to operate because our Mentees and Mentors can continue to connect and we can continue to fulfill program objectives, albeit in different ways.

BBBST is Activating a 3 Tier Response:

1. Build Social Connections at a time of physical distancing by connecting mentors with children and youth virtually

2. Protect youth and community wellness by ensuring mentors receive training, tools and resources to connect with children and youth in a new virtual and challenging landscape, while also supporting the vulnerable families who use our services by mobilizing resources and make referrals when assistance is needed

3. Support distance learning and achievement motivation by exploring online educational tools with children and youth and mentors reinforcing school habits, curiosity and future planning during school closures.

Fundraise on behalf of BBBST during COVID-19!

Your participation in this campaign, fundraising on behalf of our organization, will help ensure that Littles and Bigs continue to receive the support they need during this time of physical isolation. It is a great opportunity to make an even bigger difference in your community as a leader advocating for children and youth to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis, thriving with a bright future ahead of them.
